the-unpopular-opinions:

Yes, I have personal experience to draw from. Just because therapy or pills or whatever treatment you received worked for you, that does not mean it will work for everyone else in the world. The thought of someone else taking charge of the situation because they think you are incompetent of making decisions about your life and body absolutely disgusts me. If you received this help out of your own confessions, that’s a different story.

This kind of attitude is exactly why people end up killing themselves for totally preventable and ultimately temporary things. A lot of times, people ARE incompetent to make decisions for themselves. It doesn’t make them stupid or bad or worthless, because sometimes people just have issues, or are in a bad situation, not to mention a lot of these people are children, who aren’t fully capable of independent decision making in general. If someone is tearing their body apart, or thinking of killing themseles, or deliberately starving themselves, I think this is a pretty strong indicator they are not, in fact, completely able to make good decisions for themselves. Not that they need to be judged or ridiculed or seen as less than anyone else, but they DO have a problem and DO need help. Being suicidal/self harming/anemic is not some sort of alternative lifestyle or “just your choice”.

monday-friday:

Kids, back in 2012, your aunt Robin wanted to do something more with her life. So she took her love of guns to an organization called S.H.I.E.L.D and fought alongside the Avengers.
Now, your Uncle Barney and I took it pretty hard; she was getting to spend a lot of time with another billionaire playboy, this guy named Tony Stark. Your Uncle Barney almost went crazy when he found out the guy had a metal suit.
“It shoots fireballs, Ted! He looks like a freakin’ storm trooper!”

Then your uncle Barney decided to fight back.
